Eligibility: 
Be 18 years of age or older.
Be able to read and write English.
Be a resident of the State of Arizona for income tax purposes and claim the individual’s residence in this state as the individual’s primary residence on state and federal tax returns.
Be a citizen or a legal permanent resident of the United States.
Not be convicted of a felony (unless his or her civil rights have been restored).
Not have had an Arizona notary public commission revoked within four years of the filing of the application.

Notary Bond
A $5,000 bond is required for new or renewing notaries. The Secretary of State shall not accept any bond that was issued more than 60 days before or 30 days after the date on which the Secretary of State commissions a notary public.
Errors & Omissions Insurance
Optional. Arizona Notary Discount Association Co. strongly recommends that Arizona notaries insure themselves against claims of negligence.
Notary Stamp/Notary Seal
Required. A rubber inked stamp. Must have dark ink. These colors include dark black, dark blue, dark purple, dark green, or dark brown. Red ink or ink not view-able on all copy or fax machines is unacceptable.Required Elements: The official seal must contain the following elements: The words “Notary Public”, the name of the county in which the notary is commissioned, the name of the notary public as it appears on the notarial application, Great Seal of the State of Arizona, the expiration date of the notarial commission and commission number.
Record Journal
Not required. It is strongly recommended by Arizona Notary Discount Association Co. that Arizona notaries record every notarial act in a notary record journal.
State Filing Fee
A $43 filing fee is required for new and renewal notaries along with a notary web application.
Education/Testing
A notary public must keep as a reference a manual that is approved by the Secretary of State that describes the duties, authority, and ethical responsibilities of notaries public. A Notary Public Reference Manual may be obtained from the Secretary of State at no charge. The Secretary of State may require that applicants and suspended notaries present proof of attendance at a notary training course before receiving their commission or before reinstatement of a suspended commission. Any applicant who is required to attend a notary training course must complete the training within 90 days before renewing his or her notary public commission.

Notary Commission Renewal
A notary public may apply 60 days before the expiration of the current commission by completing a renewal application form.
Lost, Stolen or Compromised Notary Stamp or Journal
According to House Bill 2645: Arizona notaries who fail to report a lost, stolen, or compromised notary stamp or journal to the Arizona Secretary of State and law enforcement within ten (10) days will now have to pay a $1,000 fine.

Once we process your notary bond we will email back to you your notary bond instruction form and notary bond. Important Note: Once you receive these forms in the mail please be sure to sign the notary bond and have the notary bond notarized.

You must file the following forms with the Arizona Secretary of State's office for processing by mail or in-person. Once you receive your notary commission certificate proceed to the next step.
  • Original completed notary bond with original signatures.
  • Original signed Arizona online notary public application.
  • A check or money order in the amount of $43.00 (total filing fee) made payable to the Arizona Secretary of State.

Please fax, email, or mail us a copy of your notary commission certificate so we can order your official seal stamp.

When the Arizona Secretary of State's office approves your notary bond and notary online web application, they will prepare your new notary commission certificate and mail it directly to you. The State of Arizona requires us to have a copy of your notary commission certificate on file if we provide the notary bond and official seal stamp for you. Once we receive your notary commission certificate we will order your official seal stamp.
