STEP 3 - PROCEED TO THE COUNTY CLERK'S OFFICE TO COMPLETE THE COMMISSIONING PROCESS.
After the application has been processed by the Secretary of State, your Certificate of Appointment will be sent to the county clerk in the county of commission. At the same time the Secretary of State sends the Certificate of Appointment to the county clerk, a written notice will be sent to the applicant stating the Certificate of Appointment can be obtained from the county clerk’s office. You will have THIRITY (30) days to go to the county clerk’s office to obtain your Certificate of Appointment and do the following:
1) Post Bond;
2) Take the Oath of Office;
3) File and record your commission in the office of the county clerk.

STATE OF KENTUCKY NOTARY REQUIREMENTS
ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Age: 18 years old or older.
Kentucky Resident: Be a resident of the county from which the applicant makes his or her application or be principally employed in the county from which he or she makes the application.
Felony Convictions: Not have been convicted of a felony.
Application: Receive the endorsement of the officer approving the application.
Non-Residents: Non-residents must be employed in the state of Kentucky and must meet same qualifications as residents.
PROVISIONS
Bond Term: 4 Years.
Bond Requirement: $1,000 Notary Public Bond.
Notary Seal Requirement: Optional.

Errors & Omissions Insurance: Optional. Kentucky Notary "Discount" Association strongly recommends that Kentucky notaries insure themselves against claims of negligence.
Education/Testing: None Required.
State Filing Fee: A $10.00 filing fee is required for new and renewal notary applications.
Recording Journal: The State and Kentucky Notary "Discount" Association recommends that a Notary Public (State at Large) maintain a notary record book of all notarial acts performed.
