Complete the notary public application according to the instructions and then you will need to contact a commissioned notary public in your area to witness and notarize your signature on the notary public application.

We will then forward your completed notary bond and supplies back to you via U.S. mail. NOTE: Your official stamp seal will arrive at a later date due to the fact that it needs to be personalized and manufactured.

STEP 3 - SUBMIT YOUR ITEMS DIRECTLY TO THE SECRETARY OF STATE'S OFFICE.
Once you receive all your supplies and your notary public application is correct and complete you must submit the following items directly to the Secretary of State's Office:
1) Original copy of your signed and completed $10,000 notary bond;
2) Your correct and completed notary public application; and
3) A check or money order in the amount of $30.00 (filing fee) made payable to the Secretary of State.
NOTE: If you are an officer or employee of a state, county, city or district, and the commission is used in the scope of your employment, you are exempt from the $30.00 filing fee.

Once the Secretary of State's Office receives and reviews your items for approval they will mail you a appointment certificate so that you will be authorized to begin your notarial duties.

STATE REQUIREMENTS
ELIGIBILITY
Be 18 years old or older.
Be a resident of the State of Idaho.
Read and write the English language.
Not have been convicted of a serious crime nor removed from office for official misconduct within the ten year period immediately preceding appointment.
PROVISIONS
Non-Residents: Permitted.
Bond: A 10,000 bond is required for new or renewing notaries.
Errors & Omissions Insurance: Optional. Notary Service and Bonding Agency, Inc. strongly recommends that Idaho notaries insure themselves against claims of negligence.
Filing Fee: A $30 state filing fee is required for new notary applications.
Term: 6 years.
Jurisdiction: Statewide.
Renewal: A notary may apply 90 days before expiration of the current commission by completing a new notary public application.
Notary Seal: Required. A embosser or rubber inked stamp.
Education/Testing: None required.
Record Journal: Recommended by the Secretary of State and by Notary Service and Bonding Agency, Inc. to keep a notary journal to record the signer's name, signature, identification, date and other pertinent information that a Idaho notary performs.
