  • The applicant must be a resident of or employed in the state of Idaho.
  • The applicant must be able to read and write the English language.
  • The applicant have not been removed from office for misconduct nor convicted of a serious crime within the last ten years.
  • Only United States citizens and lawful resident aliens may be appointed as notaries public.

The Secretary of State appoints notaries for the terms of six years. If you want to continue to be a notary in the state of Idaho after six years, you must renew your notary appointment.
