STATE REQUIREMENTS

ELIGIBILITY 

Be 18 years or older. 

Be a United States citizen, or a permanent resident alien. 

Be a legal resident of Colorado. 

Be able  to read and write the English language. 

Not have been convicted of a felony. 

Not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving dishonesty in the past 5 years. 

Not have had a prior notary commission revoked. 


PROVISIONS

Non-Residents: Not permitted.  

Bond: None required. 

Errors & Omissions Insurance: Optional

Term: 4 years. 

Jurisdiction: Statewide. 

Renewal: A notary public may apply 90 days before the expiration of the current commission by completing a renewal application form. 

Education/Testing: Required. 

Notary Seal: Required. Embosser or rubber-inked stamp.

Record Book: Required.
